Aaron and Bob Gilman formed Intersea Fisheries Ltd. and Universal Seafoods in 1975 with Nippon Suisan. The business plan was to process and market Alaska Crab Products throughout the world. In 1985, the Gilmans sold their interest in Universal Seafoods and concentrated their efforts on Intersea Fisheries Ltd. Having retained Intersea and having offices in New Jersey and Seattle, the company pursued marketing and processing of West Coast Seafood items as well as importing products from Europe and Asia for distribution in the United States. In 1990, the West Coast office was renamed Intersea Fisheries West, Inc. allowing John Martin and Brian Glidden to purchase a minority interest, in partnership with the Gilmans in the newly formed company. Just 6 years later, on May 1st, 1996, Martin and Glidden purchased the corporation in its entirety from the Gilman's.

Although the seafood business has gone through some major changes over the years, our company has focused on the basic philosophy it was founded on: Treat everyone with the utmost professionalism. Be honest about the quality of the products you are offering. Be competitive, always keeping quality as a first priority. Listen to our customers thoroughly in order to anticipate their needs as their business's change.
We are proud to have been in business for so long and enjoy all of the great relationships we have developed over the years.
